NEWCASTLE TOWN PEN PICS

RICHARD FROGGATT - GOALKEEPER

Spent two seasons at Rocester where he was part of the team that won the Midland Alliance Championship. Moved to Belper Town in the summer but lack of opportunity saw him move to Castle in September. Has already established himself in the team and has proved difficult to beat.

DEAN GILLICK – DEFENDER

Dean has been with the club for over 10 years, last season being his testimonial year when a game against Stoke City was played. Came up through the ranks and has captained the team on many occasions. In total he has made over 500 appearances for the club in all positions. Has won Cup honours with the club and also internal awards.

JOHN DISKIN – DEFENDER

A big strong defender John was signed from rivals Kidsgrove Athletic in 2002. Captained the club and has also captained Kidsgrove and Leek Town. Also played for Stafford Rangers. He is a winner and his experience and drive have given added steel to the defence, rubbing off on others around him. Was Players Player of the Year last season.

TOM FOGG - DEFENDER

Young full-back who was part of last season’s successful reserve team. Forced his way into the first tea towards the end of last season and has stayed there. A strong tackling player who is comfortable on the ball. A player to watch from dead-ball situations he has got better and better and has a good future in front of him. Has been at Man Utd.

ANDY BOSTOCK - DEFENDER

Andy is another player who followed his manager from Kidsgrove and is now in his second spell at the club. Has a great left foot and is equally at home at full-back or further forward where he knocks in quality balls and also adds cover for the defence. Has also played for Rocester so his Unibond experience stands him in good stead for the season ahead.

ADAM VICKERS - DEFENDER

Strong tackling full-back who joined the club at the start of the season from Kidsgrove Ath following his former manager. Loves to get forward and joins in many of the attacks without losing sight of his defensive duties. Can also play in midfield where he adds steel and adds cover for the defence. Has also played for Nantwich Town.

SCOTT DUNDAS – MIDFIELD

In his second spell with the club. Began his career at Norton before moving to Town. Moved to Kidsgrove where he scored 54 goals from midfield in their Championship year. Moved to Stafford Rangers where he was top scorer and then on to Ilkeston. Moved back to Town and was the season’s Manager’s Player of the Year. Recently out with a bad knee injury.

PETER WESTON – MIDFIELD

Second spell at Town. A travelled attacking midfield player who made his name at Chorley. Started at Derby County and Crewe Alexandra before moving to Leek Town. Has also played for Fleetwood, Buxton, Bamber Bridge and Caernarfon Town.

LEE TALBOT - MIDFIELD

Attacking left-winger who signed from local team Wolstanton United in March. Already made a big name for himself and a real find for the future of the club. Scored 2 goals in his first 8 appearances for the club in last season's run-in.

RICHARD MINOR - FORWARD

Signed in the close season from local Midland Combination team Meir KA. A young striker who shot to prominence last season with a load of goals. His pace and finishing skill have made him a great capture for Town and he is already showing that he will easily make the step up. A big future is predicted for one of the best young strikers in the area.

NICK WELLECOMME - FORWARD

Another young striker who joined Town in the summer from Midland Combination side Brocton. A prolific scorer who has netted 70 goals in the last two seasons. Nick is a big strong forward who is good both in the air and on the deck. He links well with other forwards and has already shown that he is up to the step up in standard. Another player with a big future.

DARREN TWIGG - FORWARD

Back at the club for his second spell. Darren’s experience is a help to the younger players and his work ethos is an example for all those around him. A big strong attacker whose aggressive style is a real problem for defenders. Signed from Kidsgrove Ath. He has also played for Leek Town, Eastwood Hanley, Witton Albion and Ashton United.

ROSALINO MARTINS (VLADI) - FORWARD

Now in his third season with the club after moving from Portugal where he played for Oriental, Zelorico and Amarant. A real flyer who at one stage had a trial with Benfica. He is a real handful for defences with his pace and trickery. Missed a lot of last season through injury
